| 'Body Snatchers'
Review
"Body Snatchers", staring Meg Tilly and Gabrielle Anwar,
is the second remake of the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".
If there was ever a movie that didn't need to made in the first place,
much less a remake, its this one. Kill people while they sleep and replace
them with emotionless copies - that's the plot. The filmmakers steadfastly
ignore all of the interesting possibilities of this plot in favor of failed
attempts to make 2-dimensional characters, and a series of uninteresting
and un-scary action sequences. The only thing of any interest in this
film is the talented Gabrielle Anwar, who strives vainly to make her transparent
character interesting.
At 19 she moved to Los Angeles with American actor, Craig Sheffer, whom
she met while both were working in London. Chosen by "People" magazine
as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1993. She was kicked
out of school in England for fighting. But came out in a winner in 1993's
'Body Snatchers'. Although the movie was a loser, Anwar
displayed her raw acting talents throughout a thin-scripted plotline.
